Resolution Adopting A Donor Bill of Rights

WHEREAS, philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good; and,

WHEREAS, to assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support;

NOW THEREFORE, it is resolved that all donors to The NRA Foundation, Inc., have these rights:

  1. To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

  2. To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

  3. To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.

  4. To be assured your gifts will be used for the purposes for which they are given.

  5. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition and to have the opportunity to keep your gift anonymous, if you desire.

  6. To be assured that information about your donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality.

  7. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing the Foundation will be professional in nature.

  8. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

  9. To be assured that the Foundation respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. Your name and personal contact information will not be sold, shared or otherwise disclosed with/to any other organization, public, private, or non-profit.

As an NRA Foundation donor your name may be listed in the NRA Foundation’s own official publications, such as its annual report and Traditions magazine. If you prefer to be listed as Anonymous, or if you wish to opt out from certain communications, please contact the NRA Foundation toll-free at 800-425-6894 or by email at [email protected].

Privacy Policy

The NRA Foundation realizes how important privacy is to our donors. Your name and personal contact information as an NRA Foundation donor will not be sold, shared or otherwise disclosed with/to any other organization, public, private, or nonprofit.  Regarding the use of your personal information online and your NRA membership contact information (if applicable), we have adopted the following NRA and NRA affiliate-wide (“NRA”) policy to advise you of information we gather about you, how we use it, under what circumstances we disclose it to third parties, and how you can update it.  As stated above, NRA Foundation donor information is not sold, shared or otherwise disclosed, obtained online or otherwise.
