Youth Education Summit

Each year, Youth Education Summit (YES) participants compete for up to $30,000 in college scholarship awards. The first round of awards is given at the conclusion of YES and is comprised of $10,000. Participants are judged based on their initial application, on-site debates and participation during the week. Multiple students receive scholarships in the first round and the total number of students selected dictates how much each student will receive. The sum of all first round scholarships is not greater than $10,000.

The second round of scholarship awards can also be given to multiple students or to only one student. It is comprised of $20,000 and involves a second application, available to the participants after they complete the summit. This scholarship is referred to as the Grand Scholarship.

Grand Scholarship Information
The Grand Scholarship is comprised of two parts. First, the student must develop a portfolio that communicates their experience while in Washington, D.C., and how it has contributed to their personal growth. In the past, students have presented their YES experiences in different ways, some of which include, appearances on local TV and radio shows, speaking at Friends of NRA events, or having articles published in local newspapers and magazines.

The second option consists of introducing an NRA program, learned about during YES week, to your community. Many students choose to present the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program at their local elementary schools, although there are many programs to choose from.

Alumni of the prior year's YES class are eligible to apply for the Grand Scholarship. Click here for applications and deadlines.
