Lawyers: Can't Live With 'Em, Can't Shoot 'Em - One Supreme Court Justice's View of Ethics and The Code of Civility

The increasing incivility between the bench and bar and amongst lawyers has greatly tarnished the image of the legal profession, both from within and without the legal community. There is a need to identify the boundaries between zealous representation and conduct which crosses over into ethical breaches and/or criminal behavior. With ever greater numbers of law schools turning out ever larger numbers of lawyers who are hungry for business in these troubled economic times, at what point does the practice of law look more like a reality TV show than the venerable, honorable and traditional practice of yore?
