Brunton outfits Friends of NRA with latest GPS equipment

NRA field staff and regional directors won’t be getting lost anytime soon. Thanks to a generous donation by Brunton, Friends of NRA will be able to navigate the highways, back roads and trails with the new Atlas™ GPS. Brunton outfitted the Friends of NRA program with 50 of their newest mapping GPS units along with all the accessories necessary to navigate with unprecedented detail.

President and CEO of Brunton, John Smithbaker, said he’s thrilled to donate to the program and sees it as another step to extending their longstanding relationship with the shooting sports and Friends of NRA.

“We’re glad to help and want Friends of NRA to have the best equipment possible to build upon their success,” said Smithbaker.

Brunton’s Atlas GPS and WAAS receiver is a remarkable mapping tool with the ability to locate remote locales and even look up addresses and phone numbers of destinations before you reach them. It comes standard with highway exit information and the largest display in handheld GPS. With expandable memory, the Atlas GPS stores more than 700,000 points of interest including every back road and trailhead in your region. Soon the Atlas will have Topo quad maps to further enhance the backcountry experience.

Field staff will use the GPS units to help locate and save positions of shooting ranges, shooting and hunting clubs, NRA membership dealers, congressional offices, FNRA committees and volunteers, and of course, their favorite hunting hot spots. Not only that, but staff will be able to find the nearest lodging and restaurants before they even arrive.

It’s not the first time Brunton has stepped up to support the NRA. In 2001, Brunton made a generous pledge of $100,000 to The NRA Foundation’s Hunting and Wildlife Conservation endowment.
